Schools, churches and other organizations often need to hold fundraisers to come up with the money they need. Because they operate on a nonprofit basis, it's only through the kindness of the community and the money raised with fundraising that they are able to prosper. Many groups turn to selling merchandise like gourmet food and collectibles to raise money. While this can be an effective way to raise money, it may not be the best way. Selling items to raise money is done all the time and some people simply look the other way when presented with yet another fundraising catalog. Fundraising events are great because they offer a fun way for the community to get involved with your organization. Not only will you make money that your organization needs, you'll network with potential donors and provide exposure for your cause.
