About the Association of Fundraising Professionals

The Association of Fundraising Professionals, also known as AFP, boasts over 27,000 members and more than 180 chapters in locations like the United States, Canada, Mexico and China. The purpose of the AFP is simple – to improve the world through philanthropy. This association provides advocacy and education for organizations wishing to raise money for nonprofit causes.

The Association of Fundraising Professionals also offers a certification program for people and organizations who desire to be professional fundraisers. This association also seeks to educate communities and get the public involved in philanthropic activities.

If you're seeking to become a professional fundraiser or start a nonprofit organization, then you need the services of the American Association of Fundraising Professionals on your side. The AFP holds seminars and courses related to fundraising at various chapters around the globe.

In order to become a member, you must be an individual fundraiser, as memberships are not available to organizations. Because the membership is per individual, you retain your membership in the event that you move from one organization to another.

There are different types of memberships available, and how much your dues will be will depend on several factors such as your chapter location and the type of membership you choose. You can expect dues to cost anywhere from $25 to $125.

To find out if there is an AFP chapter in your locality, simply call 1-800-666-3863 and speak to a customer service representative. Curious about the benefits of becoming a member? Read on!

You will receive a subscription to the Association of Fundraising Professionals bi-monthly publication called Advancing Philanthropy. This magazine features in-depth interviews, articles, news stories and more.

Also, the AFP's Fundraising Resource Center is there to assist you with any aspect of your fundraising efforts. You'll also be able to access a giant directory filled with listings for consultants and professionals to help you meet your fundraising needs.

When it comes to continuing education in the field of philanthropy, the Association of Fundraising Professionals is there to provide classes and courses to help you succeed.
